Sandy's Circle of Life Nook Table
Made from a white oak tree that fell during Hurricane Sandy, this breakfast nook or intimate dining table is a perfect gathering place to tell stories of the past and dream up visions of what this day will hold. Having sat underneath this oak many time, this tree now has new life, serving as a gathering place.
Quarter sawn oak is very structurally sound and resists cupping, twisting, warping, moisture penetration, and raised grain. One of the most sought after features of quarter sawn wood is the flecks and the rays (called medullary rays) that appear on the face of the boards. This is a result of cutting along the growth rings. In oak wood especially, these flecks and rays can be quite dramatic and add a unique, striking quality to the wood.
To complete the contemporary style, brass string inlay merges on the top, and proud brass strings add to the cohesive design on the multi-tapered legs. The legs and stretchers are created by multiple tapers and hand carved details.

The Barley Twist Table
Inspired by the antique Jacobean furniture in the client's home, this dining room table and 12-chair set combines elements of Jacobean design with a modern twist. Continuing in the tradition of fine craftsmanship, each leg is hand carved. Wenge is inlayed into the top in a classic Elizabethan-era scroll pattern. Inspired by the Guilloché technique, the running inlay reaches from end to end of the massive 9’ table, symbolizing eternity. Timeless internal joinery was used to construct this piece, ensuring that it too will last far beyond our lifetime.
While this was a custom piece, the same attention to detail and craftsmanship is applied to whichever piece you choose. Each table is made to order and ready to be gathered around for generations to come.

The Split Fold Bronze Coffee Table
A live edge walnut slab sits atop a custom forged bronze coffee table base.
At the heart of the home is the living room, and at the center of the living room is the coffee table. It is where we gather to converse, to laugh, to discuss. A coffee table should serve as a grounding point in the room. This live edge walnut and bronze coffee table does just that.
The natural beauty of the live edge lets itself shine on both sides.
Custom forged bronze is beautifully crafted by Phoenix Handcraft. Forged bronze table base with a traditional patina finish. The legs are folded and riveted to the stretcher. This coffee table is one of several custom commissions that we have created together. Each time I work with Kyle, I fall in love with his craftsmanship all over again. The interior sides of the wooden base are hand carved and ebozined before burnishing to highlight the natural wood and gouge marks. Gentle sanding around one of the ebonized walnut tops reveals the gouge marks along the edge. Wooden bases are formed from half-lap joints, spokeshaved legs, and a rabbited detail to encase the table top.
